Dental accreditation is an independent, third-party review process that tests whether a dental practice meets the national standards set by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC). It is not self-declared. An external accrediting agency assesses your clinic against strict, published benchmarks before granting the status.
For dental practices, accreditation is assessed against six of the NSQHS Standards — a framework developed in collaboration with the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Government specifically to protect patients from harm and drive continuous quality improvement across Australian healthcare.

NSQHS stands for National Safety and Quality Health Service. It is a set of national standards developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. For dental practices, six of these standards apply, covering areas such as governance, infection control, medication safety, and clinical handover. Achieving accreditation means an independent assessor has verified that a dental practice meets all required benchmarks for safe, quality patient care.
